People with overweight are more likely to develop several serious health problems. you are more likely to have Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and abnormal cholesterol levels, which are risk factors for heart disease, strokes & much more if you are overweight

Overweight is defined as a BMI (body mass index) of 25 kg/m2 or more,

thus it includes Pre-obese and overweight defined as a BMI between 25 and 29.9 kg/m2 and obesity as defined by a BMI of 30 kg/m2 or more.

Therefore, the most common causes of overweight are overeating and physical inactivity. Ultimately, body weight is the result of genetics, metabolism, environment, behavior, and culture.

Some of the most common symptoms of overweight

Excess body fat:

The more weight you gain the more fat you gain. it is accumulated in different parts of your body , particularly around the waist.

Shortness of breath

Overweight people have difficulty moving around effortlessly and due to fat around their neck, they tend to face dyspnea. The extra fat also makes airflow complicated in and out of their lungs. If you experience shortness of breath, contact a health expert immediately.

Snoring

As excess weight increases the risk of obstructive sleep apnea due to too much bulk around the neck, they snore while sleeping.

Skin problems

. Hormonal changes may develop darkened, velvety areas around the neck and body folds. Stretching of the skin may give you ugly stretch marks. Because retained moisture in body folds due to excess weight could also develop bacteria and even fungi on such areas of skin. It. may also develop corns and calluses on the feet.

Knee pain

Excess weight puts extra pressure on your knees and ankles, making your back sore and stiff. This also affects your posture and because of knee pain, you might face difficulty in even walking. This could also make mobility difficult.

Irregular periods

overweight women may face irregular periods. Being overweight could also increase the risk of a heavy or long period cycle and the absence of a period cycle. Extra fat in the body upsets the balance of hormones in your body causing various diseases

Backache

Being overweight not only hinders your active lifestyle but could also cause back pain due to stiffness & sore back. These people have an increased risk of developing spondylolysis, spinal stenosis and a fracture in the vertebrae.

Inability to perform simple physical tasks that one could easily perform before the weight gain.

Overweight can diminish the overall quality of life, by hindering your capacity for health & happiness. So, make sure you constantly observe your body for any of these symptoms & keep a track of your weight & BMI.
